IT-Anon

Welcome to IT-Anon!

We’re glad you’ve found us, and we hope our community can be as helpful to you as it has been for us. If you are a friend or family of someone with an internet addition, our program which is one of help, hope, and healing, is for you. Some of us are here because our lives have been impacted by the internet addiction of a child, spouse, or parent. Others may be impacted because of the addiction of a friend, sibling, or other relative. While our situations may be different, we soon realize that we can relate to and support each other in many ways.

PLEASE NOTE we use conference approved literature from:  Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, ACOA, Alateen, Nar-Anon, Families Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Codependents Anonymous, and S-Anon.

The IT-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of addicts who share their experience, strength, and hope in order to solve their common problems. We believe addiction is a family illness, and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.

IT-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization or institution; does not engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. IT-Anon is self-supporting through its own voluntary contributions.

IT-Anon’s primary purpose of helping families and friends of IT addicts is accomplished by: practicing the Twelve Steps and Traditions ourselves, welcoming and giving comfort to families and friends of IT addicts, and giving understanding and encouragement to the addict. IT-Anon is a spiritual program and a fellowship of people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s internet and technology addiction. We support each other in bringing positive changes to our individual situations, whether or not the addict admits the existence of a problem or seeks help.

In accordance with our 12 steps, traditions, and concepts of service, we keep the focus on a loving interchange between members during our meetings. This means that we allow each member to share their experience, strength, and hope without interruption and without comment. We give each other the gift of listening with undivided attention. In IT-Anon we keep the focus on us and not the addict. We refrain from discussion of: religion, treatment centers, self-help programs or other 12 step programs, counseling and the use or mention of materials other that on our list of approved literature. Since in IT-Anon we keep the focus on us and not the addict, we recommend members work with a sponsor tas an integral part of their program. Although we have much in common with other 12 Step Anon programs we are our own uninque program designed to fulfill our primary purpose.
